We plan to start with two transitional homes so if someone wanted to donate a house, trailer, modular, and/or mobile home that is in good condition that would meet a need.
We are currently using our personal vehicles for the ministry and none of us own a truck. If you were to donate a truck, we could use it for our desired thrift store to pick-up, load, and haul furniture. In addition, a trailer could be useful as well. We also could use anything like an SUV or van that can ride several people.
We would like to open a thrift store to have a stream of income flowing into the ministry. This would require a building.
Money can do wonders in this ministry as our estimated budget for our Grateful Living Transitional Homes alone is over $600,000. In addition, we have costs related to our outreach ministries as well such as the distribution of bibles and/or books to inmates, visits & phone calls with inmates, and the cost of food & gas when taking people out, taking them to church or other meetings, and fellowshipping with them.
Working with folks requires helping them with transportion needs. Most do not have their license or a car starting out which means they will need someone to take them to important appointments such as classes, meetings, doctor, dentist, DMV, or social services. Some of our folks may need a ride to work and/or church.
If you are licensed therapist, you could donate your time and your talent by offering a set number of free sessions to some of our people.
If you are certified or an expert in any area such as finances, business, credit repair, investing, etc., you could also donate your time and talent by offering free education.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO DONATE YOUR TIME IN ANY MANNER PLEASE CALL OR TEXT CHASTY AT 980-295-0485
Our goal is to purchase two houses which will function as transitional homes for both men and women/children. See below for our budget that includes estimated start-up and annual operational costs.
The word of God is the most important thing we can give someone. We do not have a preference on which version, but we do prefer folks to have the whole bible (old testament and new testament). Keep in mind that some people need large print for better reading.
Sometimes tents tear, flood, or get stolen. Therefore, this is an item that is requested a lot.
Always socks! Because people do not have access or the means to wash their clothes, socks are ALWAYS needed.
Pop top cans, ramen noodles, water, propel, crackers, tuna packs, beef jerky, nuts, seeds, etc., anything that will not go bad as most do not have a way to refrigerate.
Deodorant, tampons, etc. *Preferred deodarant would something like "HUMBLE" that does not have aluminum in it.
For men size shoes, anywhere from 10-12. For women size shoes, anywhere from 6-8.
Food places are great for gift cards!
Wipes come in handy while living on the street because they can be used as napkins, face cloths, or as a substitute for toilet paper.
Bug spray, flashlights, etc.
